About therapy:

According to the American Psychological Association, “Psychotherapists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives.”

Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with life’s various obstacles.  My therapy sessions are designed to promote self-discovery and self-awareness.  When we gain a clearer understanding of who we are, we are then able to affect positive changes within ourselves and our lives.

About me:

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Florida.  I also hold a Master’s degree in Management/Business Administration from Troy University, graduating both with honors.  Additionally, I have completed the following training with the Gottman Institute: Level 1, 2 and 3 clinical training using the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy; Treating Affairs and Trauma; and Couples and Addiction Recovery.

I am also an honorably discharged veteran and feel proud to have served my country.  With this experience I am honored to work with veterans who have found themselves in places they never expected, but nevertheless, are making strides in overcoming the challenges they face.  I use treatment modalities that facilitate an incorporation of mind, body, and spirit to effectively address the challenges and issues that many people face.  My therapeutic approach is interactive understanding and compassionate support as I help my clients deal with a crisis, a difficult situation or an unexpected life change.  I provide a supportive, empathetic and safe atmosphere in which my clients are free to express their feelings, challenges and disappointments.  I strive to empower each person to recognize their strengths in order to assist them in attaining the personal healing and growth that they seek.

I have had a very diverse career path.  I joined the United States Air Force at a very young age to realize my dreams of traveling and obtaining higher education.  Although my first and only duty station was Eglin AFB, I have happily made the beautiful Emerald Coast area my home for over 35 years.  As a defense contractor, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Coast Guard Aviators as the Program Manager for the Coast Guard’s Aviation Training Facility in Mobile, Alabama.  After that, I became a business owner of several well-known franchises in the local area, employing over 80 employees at 4 different business locations.  With these combined experiences, I have learned how to effectively encourage and empower a wide range of diverse people with many different backgrounds in order to work together to achieve a common goal.

Currently, I feel blessed to have what I consider a perfect career balance.  I am enjoying life as a fitness instructor and a psychotherapist.  Within these roles I am able to incorporate my belief that a healthy mind, body and spirit enables each person to live life more joyfully and completely.  I enjoy many outdoor activities to include mountain biking, boating, water and snow skiing, scuba diving, paddle-boarding and kayaking.
